Monza Red

I recently had my front n/s wing damaged beyond repair (errant lorry driver while car was parked, not me!). I have now replaced the panel & went to my local bodyshop, where they do a paint matching service, asking for Monza Red. I knew that there were two Monza Reds, so asked for the "brighter" of the two. One of the reds dated from when the car was made & the other from 1995 apparently. Ultimately, I ended up with the wrong shade of Monza Red. The OEM code for the one I got was CMV 457, which doesn't match either of the shades on my car. ( the bonnet is peeling, due to a poor spray job) showing the "darker" Monza Red beneath the current, more orangey shade, which I do prefer anyway. So, it would seem that there are actually three shades of Monza! the problem is that I do not know if the current shade is the original one. Can anyone enlighten me as to what shade mine is? There are pictures of it in the members projects section. Reg no. PDT389L.

Not easy to tell but yours below looks fairly similar to mine? I have some left over paint from when it was resprayed will have a look and see if theirs a code on the tin!

Cheers Tam, it does look like mine in the photo, so if you could find the code, it would be mighty useful.

Monza is a key colour no longer supplied 'off the shelf' in #1 shade as the vital ingredients involved a lead-based material I believe.

Sadly it'll need to be matched to a panel by a competent paint supplier. Not fun.

Dammit, that would explain it then! The car will need a full respray at some point anyway. I just wanted to keep it looking decent in the meantime, without great expense.

This is the tin that was in the boot of my car when I got it, probably not the same but the code on the tin is NF244. Mine needs a complete re spray as well at some point as the paint is pretty rough with runs and rust coming through!!

Thanks for that tam, yours looks great in the photos, maybe it was the same person (Stevie Wonder?) who painted both our cars, as mine also has a few runs & sags. They didn't even bother to remove the trim, door handles etc. before spraying
Caught a glimpse of Eastenders last night (The missus!) & had to check my drive to make sure that someone hadn't nicked me motor! I bet you did the same, if you saw the programme :)
