My '72 P6 V8 is back in use on UK roads and once again wearing its silver on black 'K' plates!

Re: The optimist

Congratulations!! Must be a great feeling to see the car finished. It looks stunning and I am a bit envious.
Good luck with the MOT/TUV or whatever the test is called in Germany.

regards, Barten

Re: The optimist

Brilliant result Al...congratulations!

I'm sure that now you'll be thinking it has been worth all the blood, sweat and tears! :D :D :D

Re: The optimist

Aw shucks guys, you're all too kind, I'm blushing!
I found out today that I'm going to have to wait patiently until next week before my mate who restores classics for a living can collect the car. I need help with banishing the lectrickery gremlins and sorting out a few bits'n'pieces, before it goes for the initial thorough TÜV (MOT) inspection. Yeah, well, after 6 years (might even be longer, I've lost track!) what's another week eh?
I think I need a name for it/her/him now. I'm given to understand that in English a car is automatically refered to as a she, but to be honest mine is a blokeish sort of car, a bit macho, no way it is a lady! I haven't come up with anything better than 'Old Blue' as yet. Any good suggestions chaps?

I see in your signature you refer to " her " approaching 40th birthday . I think it is just the affectionate way we refer to them , and it seems to flow better , " she's running well " she's looking good etc . I don't think we actually think of them as male or female .
Mines called "The Governor " but i still refer to it as she . I have heard people say that's a real mans car , what a load of s**te ! The best one is when blokes tell me " wow your lucky luv , the old man letting you out in that !
Anyhoo , again a lovely looking motor , a credit to your hard work , The name will come as you use it and get to know it's character . :D

Re: The optimist

Al, how about "The Prussian" 8)
Perfect gangster car name!
Good luck with the test
Jim

Re: The optimist

Were it mine there would only be the one name in contention, to me it would be a natural choice " The Admiral" not only for the colour but the integrity and tradition that the p6's invoke.

Fantastic looking job!

Graeme

Mr t a couple of surgestions on the name front for a manly car in no particular order;

Thunder
Thor
Bolt
The Knight
Blue Thunder
The Vi-King
Roary
Bluto
Vroom

That's it for now all that came to mind in an inspiring moment

Re: The optimist
