I have an 2000 tc where the ignition light is started to light up reversed. When i have stopped the car and taken of ignition it starts to light. When i start the car it goes out. very strange. Anyone with an idea??? sorry for my english. (i am from Denmark) I have taken the wire to warning light away from my alternator so now it is always off, but i would like to fix it.....
Hope someone can help me with good ideas. Have done some reading. There should be a relay somewhere, but i cant find it.

Sorry I cannot help Kokken, but welcome, and a fine looking car you have.
Someone will no doubt be along soon who has encountered your problem before, or knows how to cure it.

John.

I think you may be our first member from Denmark, Kolken, so welcome to the forum!

We need to know first what sort of charging system your car has. 2000TC up to 1970 have a dynamo and Lucas R8340 regulator. 1971 model year has a Lucas 11AC alternator with a separate 4TR control box. 1972 onwards have a Lucas 18ACR with integral control box. The behaviour wil be different for each. If your car is close to the 1970 to 1972 period it will be helpfull to have the chassis number to identify which system it has. (that is unless you know where the 4TR control box is or that you have a dynamo)

My car is fitted with a 11 ac alternator. I think i found the little box in front of the car in drivers side (my car is left stearing) Strange that im the first from denmark. This forum could have saved me a lot of time. i am glad that i found you guys. My ignition coil is red and fitted with a + if that info is usefull. (and no surprise my batteri was drained this morning) here is a picture of what i think must be the box. One wire goes to alternator one to batteri.

The item in the looks like an inertia starter motor's solenoid unit.

I'm sure the control box is in one of the gloveboxes (the right hand one, I think..) Maybe some of the others could confirm/deny what I seem to think?

Locked for about 100 times. The only thing i can see is the turn signal control box. (i can hear it working when im blinking.)

Think i found the solution. It was the ignitionswitch who is malfunktion. I think there is no relay, instead the ignition should shut down everything. Took it out and unwired and put it back in, and now the light is off. Hope it stays that way. But thanks for help.
Regards from Denmark.......

This is the regulator that you are looking for Kolken.

On an English car it would be up behind the passenger (left hand side) glove box, but I'm not sure for a LHD car.

For your car, the ignition light is fed direct from the ignition switch. It earths via a Lucas 3AW relay (which looks exactly like the direction indicators relay, in a cylindrical aluminium can) mounted close to the indicator unit under one of the glove boxes (driver side, right hand side on an english car). The relay is switched by a brown with yellow stripe wire to terminal AL of the alternator.

Hope that helps.

Chris
