My new toy

Derek,

Where in California are you? I am down in the Los Angeles/Orange County area and I am gradually finding people capable of working on the Rover - parts can be sourced from all over - Ian at Rover Classics has been really very helpful to me - as has everyone here on the forum.

Anyway, I am happy to share the people and sources I have found. I am getting my brakes rebuilt locally and I am confident I have the right man for the job as he restores old British cars for a living and has owned a few P6s in his time.

All the best.

Alan.

Alan,

Im in the San Francisco bay area. Thank you for the offer of sharing your finds, one day Im sure you'll regret it ;).

I've also been working with Ian for stuff I cant find locally, he's also been helpful for me too. Certainly SoCal is much closer for shipping costs etc than Canada is.

I bought my car from a guy in Santa Cruz - I don't know if you've seen my long boring story so far...

I have got my front brakes off and with my tame mechanic - the rears on mine have proved a tough nut to crack as the right rear was/is completely seized. I have gone the route (suggested here) of dropping the diff and they will be with John this weekend. As soon as he's evaluated them I will be putting an order in with Ian - so far I know I need all new pistons for the front, I am guessing that the rears will be the same or worse.

When I spoke to Ruth in BC she gave me the number of a guy in the bay area for rebuilding my brakes - is that the shop you are referring to?

You know there's a couple of NADAs in a wreckers yard in North Carolina right? There were two in a yard in Redding but the idiot crushed them :(

Anyway - keep in touch, maybe we will be helping each other - I know it seems like there more Rovers in the Bay area than down here. I'll let you know the next time I am up there - Irish Coffees at the Buena Vista :D
