I can see that Jag becoming a money pit at the drop of a hat, mind you we've never seen you lose on any vehicle yet ! I'm sure you'll get rid just in the nick of time.

Richard.
Thats so true, main reason the last owner got rid was after spending a grand on new tyres and brakes and mot he couldnt justify the bill from the specialist to fix the rest of it which would of been about £1500-£2000, thats £700 for parts + labour and vat!
I can do all that for about £350 parts only.
And as I got it silly cheap, when its done, will drive and look great and hopefully sell easy.

Adam.
If I did/do sell then I still dont know what to buy next??? Yet another problem? :?

I imagine the Jag is still depreciating so there comes a time to get shot of it before you lose money
With a car like that , if the engine or box goes , it's effectively a scrapper

Fortunately they are now of an age where good s/h parts are available!
Have located 2 specialist breakers local to me.
Like all cars they will depreciate, but the good ones will survive into classic status, with the help of donor parts.
Having a Rover V8 eng/box rebuilt isnt far off the same sort of cost of buying a known good jag eng/box.
Prices will stabalise, and if it does go tits up bang then its still got plenty of breaker value left.

You won't sell your Rover though will you Pilkie? Seems a shame to own such a nice car and not drive it all the time.

Ron.

I'd forgotten Pilkie bought the Jag as a babe-magnet....................

hows the nikasil??
Being a late 1999 nikasil the sulphur fuel that caused the problem had all but gone by then, and most think that a good late nikasil is better than the later so called upgrade.
Am taking the cam covers off this weekend as appartently you can then see if the secondary chain tensioners,"top" have been replaced.

look for the green tag on back of cyl heads

dont mean your timing gear is good tho,,hope u find its all been replaced at an earlier date,,
i see these all the time with popped v8 lumps

my jags are v12 ,and 4.0 straight six--
keeps the money where it belongs,,in the wallet..

Surely with a V12 I imagine OPEC and the Government have most of your money by now! :D
