My V8's makeover 2011.A respray, seat and webasto roof refurb

1st pic off all 3 together...
Rover takes a peek outside while its dry,so I can get his arse in the air on the ramp to do the back exh box, towbar and rear bumper.

Do you have it on a bit of string to yank it through the window for a quick 'chocks away Biggles' set off?

Jobs done today.
Undersealed and fitted rear valence and sills, fitted electric aerial to rear wing, lined up and secured rear wings, painted rear exh box silver and fitted, refurbished 1 wheel.
+plenty of faffing about tinkering with bits and bobs!
Found the missing good door handle,so fitted that.

Tomorrows jobs....
Paint and fit towbar + elecs and rear bumper, fit side chrome trims and badges, put in spare bronze seats while others are being refurbed, finish refurbing wheels.
Replace rear brake pads and set up handbrake.
Hope to get an MOT booked in for fri or sat.

Towbar cleaned,painted,and bumper fitted.
I bought an original, nos, still bagged rover P6 towbar electrics extension loom a couple of years ago,a very lucky find,so have routed it in the proper way to tidy up the botch that has been there for a while, just got to connect the ends up when I need it.

BUM!!! :(
My tame MOT guy has left! :(
Means I have to track him down and see if he is still in the MOT business somewhere local or find a new one to train!

Bloody hell, next they'll make you actually take the car to the test station

Actually, you've got the ramp, just need a brake tester and you could setup your own station !

One guy I took the rover to a few years ago, said it was going to fail as soon as he walked under it,as the sills were bolted on!
I explained to him thats how they are fitted and I got a look of "YEAH RIGHT MATE",so I asked him to let it down and went elsewhere.
Some younger MOT guys do need educating on older cars, and I dont mind passing on info, but this guy was 40+ a total TWAT!
Will go round the local stations tomorrow and see whats what and who's who!

I took my old Monza V8 to a local MOT station and he passed it.

I hit a pot hole on the way home and tore the lower link strut away from the chassis rail because of serious rust. He could be forgiven for that as underseal can cover a multitude of sins, but during the repair process, I noticed play in 7 ball joints in the front suspension/steering.

I never went there again.

Car is looking really nice - good luck with the MOT

Been fitting in the good interior that isnt going to be refurbished, and decided to do a little modification experiment! :)
With the continental kit on there will be zero rear visibility, but I am normally more interested in whats going on ahead of me that behind!

I thought about doing that with spare teardrops, but decided there wouldn't be enough clearance to hook the seat backs over their stays with the restraints in place.
How have you fixed them in?

I agree that teardrops are probably too tall to fit, havent tried.
But fitting ET's is very simple and basic, just sorting out the fixing clamp system now!.
There will be no up/down adjust but will be forward/back,and in the lowest position are actually quite comfy!

Hi all.

Been a bit busy with other things and had to do a nasty job on the Jag recently.

Have sorted out the fitting of rear headrests, all badges now on,new drive shaft lock tabs in place, new battery in and all electrics working.
Now just got to bung the passenger seat back in and get an MOT booked asap, hopefully fri aft or sat morn.
Will do some pics of it at the show this sunday,so hopefully the weather will be kind for its first outing.
Used the TR6 for work on monday, and while parked up all day it got crapped on by the gulls, which has now ruined the paint in 4 places on the bonnet.
Will have to see if Dean can cut,mop and polish it out!!
If it needs a repaint,I cant claim, but once dean has had a go,maybe it wont show as much unless you look for it.
When I take the Rover or TR to work in future,I am taking a car cover with me!!
Might even take my 12 bore as well!

Got the rovers MOT booked for 11am tomorrow, hopefully will be no problem.
Going to use it daily for a while,as its not had much use for a few months.
I need to do the rear dampers on the Jag anyway,so need the ramp.
Still got to see Dean and get the bottoms of the front wings painted sill colour.
Anyway heres some of the latest pics.
All put back together at last.
The carports finally built and all 3 posing for a family piccy! :D

:( Failed!
Just the rear n/s footbrake non existent and very low handbrake, got 10 days for free retest, hopefully its just a bleed the air out!!!
If a good bleed doesnt sort it out then I will bung on the recon set of calipers I bought last year.
Cuppa tea and a sarnie while things cool down, then get stuck in.
If I can fix it before 4pm today,I can get the retest done.
