It's for setting the pinion up on the diff.

I should have known an "old" Rover mechanic would know! Remind me to post pics of some other unusual 'tools' I picked up with the same lot. Would have liked to pick up a somewhat rusty 'carb balancer' from same guy, but didn't want to part with it. Can't find a pic of one just looking.

Okay Harvey, need your expertise to ID these pieces in same box with the Diff pinion measuring gauge....

I think I'm looking at swivel pillar ball joint removal tools, a steering side arm ball joint splitter, and a tool for fitting the front shocks, plus some other things I've no idea about???

Top left in the lower picture, is that a tool or just the spacer to fit the spare wheel to the bootlid?
