Nardi Steering Wheel fitted (finally)

After my impulse ebay purchase of a Nardi steering wheel over a year ago it is finally fitted after I had a spacer/adapter made to suit. My Italian neigbours will be impressed!!! The wheel had a shallower dish than the standard so a 25mm thich spacer maintained the arm reach and also the reach to the indicator and light stalks. I also was able to use the standard wheels centre cap with a bit of fettling to clear heads of the six retaining bolts. The spacer is bolted to the standard boss with socket head cap screws recessed into the spacer and the nardi covers these up when fitted.

Nardi wheel is 14.5"

Yes, the centre cap is a little askew, a little more fettling required...

That is.... SEXY!!

David Bache's 2000TC-based Alvis styling prototype coupe 'Gladys' had a three-spoke wheel like that with the round dials, and it looked gorgeous. I WANT!

Looks really good Scott!
Very similar to the nardi we have in our eunos roadster only that has black spokes..
Was it expensive to have the spacer made, is it billet aluminium?
Have you thought about removing the paint of the badge bezel?
I polished mine to match my polished spokes, but you could do a brushed finish to match...
If you decide you don't like the look you can just paint it again

Si, uno sexy italiano.

Would have liked to have had it done in aluminium but all I could get hold of was steel, and an apprentice at work knocked it up for me, but if ally 100mm bar is obtainable down the track...

I like the idea of polishing the ally bezel...but I'll blacken the spacer so it blends in with the colunm.

Dave asked,
Is the black band in the wheel a wooden veneer ?

Apparently it's not a wood inlay but just a painted feature which is covered by the wood varnish and can chip off if removing the varnish when refurbishing the wood, I would think it must have a little bit of rebate to hold the paint??? But not certain. (I googled "black inlay on Nardil steering wheel" and got to a Cadillac forum with the above info)

Scott

OEM fitment on Mazda MX5 ( Miata ) Japanese domestic model pre 1992, Mazda made a grade of the car with a "British Green" body, tan seats and tan top with a Nardi wooden shift knob that matched the steering wheel
After 91 the Miata had driver Airbags with passenger airbags available as an option; that Nardi wheel disappeared from the Mazda catalog
Nardi Japan has that wheel new for 20,600JPY with a Nardi horn button, but no P6 boss, unfortunately... suits your car really well ( ! )

Yes that's the MX5 model we have, the V spec.
Our wheel is still in good condition but the shifter has lost some lacquer..
