Need of brake servo overhaul?

I think that one, or both, of my brake slave cylinders is leaking brake fluid. For I suppose it should not come out any fluid from the vacuum hose as in the picture? Is the repair difficult?

If the bore is OK, the rebuild is not difficult. The hardest part is making some kind of tool to rotate the rear cover of the vacuum tank to disassemble.

There are two kits, the main kit which includes the vacuum diaphram and hydraulic seals, and an air valve kit which includes the bits under the white plastic cover. The main kit is essential, the air valve kit is usually optional.

If the bore is knackered, then you either have to get a replacement servo or have it sleeved.

Even if it is only one servo, chances are both are the same age so I would do both.

I have now received the basic repair kits for the slaves (the bore was fine) and got all other parts from zinc finishing (unfortunately not the same yellow tint as the original one). The last thing to do before I assemble all is to blast and paint the slaves. It seems like they are dark green, but I'm not sure if that is the original or if someone have painted them before. So, can anyone tell me what the original color is for the brake servo slave cylinders (2200 TC with twin servos, Sweden)? Black, green or silver?

Unpainted, actually.

Hi Coop,

Vern is right on the money, the slave cylinders were left unpainted.

You could paint it any colour that you like, so as to give it a personal touch exclusive to your Rover. :)

Aha, so they were left unpainted. Mine were mostly unpainted but I thought it was due to that the color had loosened over the years. Ideally, I want the original appearance as much as possible, but a few deviations have been made already. I painted them black before your answers came, so now they will be like that. It looks nice, but is not the original look =)
