Negative Camber for the Front End

I've seen a significant number of references to people modifying the front suspension to give negative camber - it's clearly relatively easily practicable.

Does anyone know precisely what the modification entails. I'm really looking for sketches / photo's and write up.

My starting assumption is that it involves moving the top link slightly inboard against the front bulkhead. Most of the references I have seen speak glibly of "machining". This could be either modifying the top link itself to lie further over within the existing top link brackets (one each end, bolted up to the bulkhead), or modifying the brackets / bulkhead in some way.

If I were to start experimenting, the main snag is that each time I want to change / adjust something I'm going to have to compress the road spring, expensive if we're doing it on someone elses optical set up rig!

I'm looking for about 1/2 degree, so changes are likey to be fairly minor.

I think Nigel Yorkstone experimentd with this on his hillclimber (see article in auto-trade test articles on the P6.

Why would you wan't to do this on a road car?
