negative camber.

hi all i got negative camber. on my mk 1 v8 the bottom of the wheel is further out than the top and it the steering feel light when the car is up and going and always feel like the car is losing grip. i dont know how to fix this problem (can i fix it) if so how can any 1 help me out on this i have looked at all the main bars and they all look fine with no damage and they are the same lengh as the spare ones i got please let me know guy thanks

Hello Gareth,

Front wheel camber is specified as 0 degrees plus or minus 1 degree, so the front wheels may splay out slightly when on the ground.

Incorrect "toe in" can cause the car to wander, making steering control more difficult. "Toe in" is adjusted via the track rod and should be 3.0mm plus or minus 1.5mm. A steering and suspension business should be able to adjust if it is outside of specification.

thanks i will try and have that cheaked out yea when the car is on the ground you can see the wheels are out loads at the bottom thanks for the help gareth

Mine are the same - in at the top. But everythings straight under there. It could just be down to saggy springs, as the wheel moves through an arc as it compresses.

To be honest I'm not too worried about mine. I had the tracking reset earlier this year from 1/3 inch toe out to 1/4 inch toe in and it made a massive difference to how the car behaves - better stability, sharper turn in, no wandering and my indicators now self cancel at the right time too!

Make sure you (or your mechanic) turn the adjusters the right way though as I think it adjusts the opposite way round to most cars like most things on a P6.
 
It does work the opposite way round to other cars - ie - you shorten the link to increase the toe-in
And it's a very fine adjustment so only alter the adjustment a little at a time
 
thanks guy i will get the tracking done and see wot that does just got to get the car in for the mot then i will get it check out its just a pain when u are going round corners only because the sterring goes so like some times feel like the car has got power sterring
