Good score Ian! Looks like a beauty, is it a runner? Does it need much tlc? Is this a keeper or are you selling it on? (or stripping it for parts? )

hi,
hopefully i will keep it. you never know with me. it is on the back burner at the moment as i have too much other stuff going on. yes it is a nice original car ( apart from the dent ) i don't think they were original ?. one thing, it comes with another rust free door, so that cures that problem. the interior is in exceptional condition, apart from when the guy put the door in, he has nicked the base of the back seat, so that is on my shopping list if any one has a mint rear seat squab ( near side ) in ambla.

Nice car Ian, but how in the world am I supposed to keep mine running if you keep pulling all the U.S. cars back to England? (Kidding!) Is that a 1970?

How strict are they in the UK on Left Hand Drive cars? Do you have to convert it to Right Hand Drive in order to get it registered in the UK. Do you have to convert to the UK specs which applied in 1970?

In South Australia conditional registration is the same for left hand drive cars as for historic cars, so you can do 90 days per year with a log book without doing a conversion. Importing cars privately into Australia and registering them is difficult though. Kind of a non tariff trade barrier.

South Australia is like California, cars do not rust, but the shock absorbers squeak as the bushings become dried out. The leather can dry out and crack as well. I am heading home in March to drive my white Rover to Nat Rove in March, to Queensland. I will be back in the US in time to drive my red Rover to Fitchburg for RoverAmerica.

James.

hi,
so cal V8 is right, it makes no difference. i too hopefully will be at roveamerica in fitchburg again next year, this time with all my family. also one or two other people i know will be coming across for the rally.
i am also fetching three more from the states. two should be going to the docks at the end of this week, the other another californian car, i am awaiting a title for it. that is a 28000 miler, but has been outside and is very badly sun damaged not like the red one which has been kept garaged.
it was built on 15th july 69 and shipped out on the 25th july 69
on another note, i was looking around it last night and noticed 205 x 60 tyres on it

p.s. so cal V8 i have a spare air-con heater box loom as if i remember yours was burnt.

 i will be keen to see it .

you do know how jealous i will be of THAT CAR lol mmmm its a V8 lol

Dude, that's a nice looking car, you've also got one seriously clean & tidy garages I've ever seen. I thought that the front seat looked in too good a nick for leather!

Dave

hi dave,
seats are ambla ( vinyl ) not leather, it was an option for the states, but i believe very few had them. secondly the pictures are from where it was kept in california. i have not had time to take any myself since it's arrival very late sunday night. but without bragging, i have just about finished my own garage, 45 foot wide, 22 foot deep at one end, going to 5 foot deep at the other end, with the help of a very good friend who also owns a nice blue NADA ( many thanks david ) and at the moment it is spotless, just finished painting the floor, put some shelves up, getting all my tools from my dad's plus compressor, shot blasting cabinet, press etc.
