New carpet set

Hi Jim,
when I restored my p6 I bought a complete set from Wadhams there not cheep but are fantastic quality. With regards to fitting there are some hard bits particularly around the front door and to the fire wall, also the upturn going to the rear seats. Take your time as the finish without any wrinkles is what you are after.

Regards John

I've bought from this trader before and they are ok quality. I've also bought a cheaper set and it was dreadful, wiry nylon that caught all the bits. A few years ago I also bought a wadhams carpet and it was brilliant. You get what you pay for really. I wouldn't go near a real cheapie again and a wadhams carpet is perfect for a show car. The type you have posted will really lift your interior and will be hard wearing but won't look or feel the same quality as a good original or wadhams carpet. All the types I have tried fitted well but the bit at the lower a post and the rear seat transmission tunnel area are the hardest. With regard to underlay, try to keep your original as my perceptions are that reproductions are poor fitting and nowhere near as thick.

I bought a set from ebay for an auto: Sparky has the wider tunnel as he used to be an Auto.

For various reasons it took a while to fit them, but when I came to the time, I found that I had a set for the manual. I informed them that the wrong carpets had been sent, and he offered to sell me just the floor mats for £70.00. I then sent a copy of the order to show that he was in the wrong but he refused to help.

I had just bought a set of underfelt from the same company but it wasn't much good and only covered the tunnel and floor sections. No sill pieces, none for the rear crossmember, and none for the patches at the front of the footwells. I took it out after a while and put some foam in as the road noise was too much.

If it ever comes to it again, I will go to Coverdale.

Richard

Thanks all for the good advice.
I'm not building a show car, but I want it as good, at least as original.
I prefer to buy direct from a manufacturer,
so I think it will be Coverdale.

Jim.
