Hi from Australia. I am glad to find a group interested in Rovers. As a teenager, I can remember one of the teachers at school had a light blue P6 V8 Rover and remember it being a cool car. Many years later I satisfied my curiosity and bought a P6 3500 on a whim. I love it, it is a 1976 Paprika 3500 which purrs along beautifully for a 34 yo car. I recently needed to repair the rear window the window dropped. I found the channel rail that held the glass in place had disintegrated with rust. I was fortunate enough to locate another one in good condition but when I check the other doors, was disappointed to find the all the other three have rusted channels to varying degrees. Can anyone tell me if this is a common problem with the P6? Is there a suitable replacement available to replace these?

Welcome, and a fine colour Paprika is to!!, Rust in Oz who would have thunk that, I am not aware of a rust problem in that regard NZ like OZ being a rust free zone :D However I am sure those back in the mother land may have a different take on this problem that you have encounted.

Hi Wellcome on board.
Rust in those places just sounds like a bit of bad luck to me she may have lived in a salty enviroment at some stage.Maybe buying some replacement rust free doors would be the answer .Second hand parts and bits & pieces still remarkably cheap here in NZ I guess the same in AUS.Good luck anyway wellcome to the forum and how about some pics ? Really like Paprica very cool colour !
Cheers Phil.

Thanks guys. I am putting the rust down to failed exterior seals and poor material it is just such a weird thing, as the rest of the doors are OK and rust free. I believe the vehicle spent most of the time in the Sydney area which is coastal. I have tried numerous times to add pics but I keep getting an error message - perhaps they are too large (2.3mb) I do not know how to reduce the size of the pics but will try.

Nick

I don't know if this worked................

Hi Nick, and welcome aboard this fine forum!

If your pics are that size, you won't be able to upload direct. You could resize them with an image editor (IrfanView for example - you'll find it via Google), or use a free image hosting site, such as Photobucket.

Have a look at my second post on this thread: http://www.classicroverforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=6814&hilit=pictures

Cheers,

Thanks for the advice and I think that I have been able to re size my photos. Here are a couple of my P6 - Paprika
regards
Nick

Great photos of as great car, are you sure it's paprika??? maybe just your photos but it looks a little on the red side more like Pimento as in my signature photo.

I must be a bit slow today, just noticed your roof mounted aerial a dead giveaway for it not being an NZ assembled car, was yours an X UK import CBU from new or has it been used elsewhere, do you also have any interior photos?

Hey guys,
These pic were taken in bright sun and didn't really do the colour true justice (or should I say to distinguish to brown hue). I cannot find any numbers in the engine bay that specify paint codes - I hope these pics are more true to colour. As to the origin, it was built in Jun '76 and first registered in June '77 and sold by a dealer in North Sydney. The compliance plates says 'manufactured in Australia by the Leyland Corporation of Australia' But as per info from another thread this may be misleading??? However, I can tell you that BMC and then Leyland Australia had a car plant in Zetland, Sydney up until the company went into receivership somewhere around 1975?. So I am also confused. As far as the roof antenna goes, it looks original and there is no indication on the front guards that there aerial was ever mounted there.

Nick

Most like it will be a CBU from the UK though it may have gone thru NZ first as there were quite a few cars that came in to NZ as CBU units though they were I think mainly S models. I thought (maybe wrongly) that NZ stopped production in 1975.

Looks like Paprika to me... What is the chassis number? If it starts with 453 then it is most likely NZ assembled. If it start with 452 then it will be UK assembled export model which is more likely considering the aerial.

The chassis starts with 435. By the way, was the paint code identified on one of the stamped labels on the inner l/h guard? Below the compliance plate and chassis plate, there is another one with 'HP 240256' and this number does not correspond with any of the original documents that I have.

Great looking car - and bang on for Paprika IMHO...

Got to concur with the colour on that last photo, you dont see many Paprika cars around, they really stand out it is such a bold colour. I can only ever recall seeing the one in NZ when I lived in the Nelson region and a stunning car it looked too.
