Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and from Sydney Australia. I've got a 74
p6b that I'm starting to restore into a tuff street car. Hopefully fellow members can give me some advise on some modifications I'm thinking of doing ... :)

welcome OZI, you will find lots of advise and help here, but only in return for lots of pics of your project
you'll find we like pic's here,
sounds very interesting,

Scott

Welcome to the forum OZI :)

Be sure to post lots of pics of your Rover, both now and as you progress with the modifications.

You'll find a wealth of knowledge on here.

Ron.

Dragged the old girl out off the shed over the weekend to have a good look at it, its been sitting under covers for many years, will need to cut and polish the paint, but first I'll rebuild and modify the front suspension.

The red P6 is gone, but replaced with this well looked after one, looking forward to a lot less work, just a simple freshen up.

Hi folks,
At 73 years old, I have just purchased a 72 P6, not my first Rover I hasten to add, Many years ago had a cylop, and a 110
Spent four years rebuilding a MGBGT in my front garden. sold that to Rebuilt an Austin Big Seven, sold that last year.
Stupidly bought a Ford Capri last year, to low for me to drive nowadays, so up for sale.
Also got a 1986 BMW for sale
Been up to all these daft antics since I was 18 so seen a few classics.

Now a question, my Rover, the dashboard looks like the tide coming in on Bondi Beach, it looks to me that the heat from the eye level vents has warped the plastic ??
I could do with removing the dash, but at the moment I am waiting for a workshop manual to appear, is this a manageable job, are spare dashes available ?

The face level vents vents are cold air only, so it won't be that, the screen demist vents are hot air, but it will be heat through the screen, although that seems it might be pretty unlikely in the UK.....

You should be able to get a good used dash, and judging from your previous exploits it should be well within your abilities to fit it.

What part of the dash? the dash top or the dash tray. the tops often split with the UV (OZ and NZ) and the dash trays for some obscure (to me) bulge upward in the passenger area in some cars.
A long while a go someone told me the reason for that but because mine doesn't I didn't place that reason in my permanent memory.
However dash removal in a P6 is a very pain free exercise, just finding a good replacement is a little more difficult as you are not likely to find a new one.
