New P6B Project

More than a decade after selling my beloved P5B Coupe I have taken the plunge and bought a 1976 P6 V8 restoration project on EBAY (without seeing it beforehand). When the car was delivered i was pleasantly surprised by its overall condition as it seems to be quite solid throughout with only minor work needed to a D Post and a two-inch rust hole in the rear inner wing.
Could someone advise me whether you can buy D Post repair sections for or whether it would be necessary to replace the whole panel?
The body panels have all been removed and are due to be bead blasted to remove the paint. I will be requiring 4 new doors and a pair of front wings ….. anyone got good spares they are willing to part with?
The engine runs really well although I have now stripped the Carbs for refurbishment. The brakes, transmission & suspension all seem fine.
I am keen to get the Rover back on the road as soon as possible and may consider paying someone to complete the project. Any P6 enthusiasts in the Durham area?

That doesn't look so bad at all does it? Beware of the challenges to be found under those sill covers though! P6's rarely have a D post problem without having some degree of rot in the sill to go with it! Make sure you've had the stainless kick plates off the top of the sills and had a good look at the floor to sill junction area as well as the front face of the sills revealed by taking off those sill covers. I'd also have a carefull look in the area of the front bulkhead around the top pivot arm mounts. Only then commit to having professional welding done, otherwise you risk open cheque book syndrome.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Chris
