New Rover Colour

It seems I have incorrectly been labouring under the impression that my car is Tobacco Leaf.

Thankfully the Heritage Certificate I ordered has set things straight - it appears that my car is, in fact, Tabacco Leaf - whew! That's a relief.

Here's hoping that the forty odd quid/$70+, will go towards spelling lessons for the employees of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust - failing that, perhaps a training session on the use of "spell check."

Whow - is that a computer glitch or human misspell ? How many other Tabac's are out there ?
All those with tobacco leaf will be scratching through their bottom drawers now . Is mine a Tabac , is mine a Tabac ,Oh my god , how can this be ?
For that price I would be asking for one in English . After all its a legal document being a birth certificate .
Now is that date a miss print too ?
Is it really a V8 ?

Good God is it even a Rover!!
Don't start putting troublesome thoughts like that in my head - I'll end up a gibbering mess like Gerald worrying about the quality of French air... I did note that he was muttering about Tabac - does he have any Gallic roots?

When I think of the word Tabac it conjures up images of Dutch indonesian influences and old spice  really should Google the word up but I am afraid that it might be even more disturbing than any thing I could have imagined

Tabac as far as my schoolboy French goes means tobacco. On a positive note a bar tabac is one of those pleasant French institutions that dispenses beer and wine......

I wonder if this is common. I got a Heritage cert for my Stag and there were a couple of mistakes, the most glaring being that they listed the chassis number (that I provided) as having an LD prefix rather than the LE prefix that all USA spec cars had. It also lists the destination as British Leyland motors in Huston. :? I did a bit of searching on Google and while there are a couple of towns in the 'States called Huston, they are both so tiny they barely register on the maps so I suspect it should have been Houston.
However, whether it is poor spellchecking by the BMHIT staff or just them trying to read the 40 year old handwritten entries in the log books I couldn't say.

It's a human error issue. They did the registration number the wrong way round on my last certificate - should be 102 FJJ, and they did 102 FFJ.

They're pretty good at correcting things if you email them, and will mail you out a replacement.

Worst one was the incident when a gent got a certificate for his Three Thousand Five, which stated the car was originally Bordeaux Red.

The car was thus restored and painted in the colour (and is stunning, incidentally).

Doubting the information, as when I had the car it showed obvious signs of being Brigade Red originally, I had a look at the register myself - it was Brigade Red - the writing was not that legible, but certainly Brigade.

They're only human at BMIHT.

Hi, on the surface this is irritating and/or amusing depending on your viewpoint and could be
seen as no big deal. I can see that the staff writing these might not have any actual interest
in minutiae of the details. However, this could be seen as a legal document as it can be used
to claim a concession on road tax and if the details are wrong could be construed as fraud. I
think the BMIHT should be seen to be more professional.
