Hey people, at the weekend I picked up my new motor. A 1985 SD1 VDP EFI.

I'm only 20, and this is my first Rover, first SD1 and first V8. I'm looking forward to the summer car shows as I bought her for that purpose. She needs a bit of cleaning up but i'm not complaining for what I paid :D

Ah, Garys old car? Hope to see you on the SD1 Facebook page he started too :D

Welcome from a fellow SD1 owner

Just about the nicest possible spec of SD1 - I particularely like that variety of seats.

SD1'a are getting very rare indeed now, so take good care of it! And welcome aboard!

Cheers guys, yes it is Gary's car and I've just gotta be accepted on the page he created.

This is my third car at the mo and needs a few bits sorted but it's pretty tidy. My plans so far are a respray of the bottoms of the doors, the front or whole of the bonnet and the o/s/f wheel arch as that has been touched in. There's also a dent on the rear arch so I'll have to get that pulled out. Other than that, the headlining is sagging and the rear pillar trims are torn. Also the engine doesn't idle very well but I'll get round to these issues.
It's taxed and MOT'd so I've just gotta get insurance sorted, which isn't cheap and it'll be on the road :)

I was hoping by joining this forum that I could gather a bit of knowledge about these old engines and known faults that may cause the idle problem. My first idea would be the air flow metre but I've gotta get time to investigate it.

I'll look into that other forum too, and I'm in Weston Super Mare.

Start a new thread on the V8 Engine page for your idling issue. I'm sure we can knock that off in no time flat!

Chris
