Nice 2000TC on Pistonheads

This does look nice. If only I had the storage space.... It has the old style foglight covers too.

I was shown around this car back in the spring and was very impressed. Actually, I wasn't, I was depressed by how crumbly it made mine look!
Price might seem on the high side, but it would cost a lot more than that to bring a rough one up to the same standard.

Flaming heck! I saw that car close up, it was near an old council sheltered workshop here on Anglesey some 6 or so months back. It made me remember our old P6.

Hope it gets a good home! :)

That is tidy! :)

If it's a very early 1973 it might well be Tax Exempt as well on build date.

I didn't get to see the owner (If I had, I would have asked him about the car!)

Ours was a K reg, but reg'd 20th July 1972 (according to the reg document). Maybe this car is not that much younger...

Does the tax-exemption status still apply to 25+ years old cars, or has it been amended or rescinded?

I think 25 year rolling tax exemption stopped rolling in 1997 as my November 1973 P6 was within a year of getting free tax when the rules changed
Is this something else I can blame Gordon Brown for ?

From direct.gov.uk

Exemptions from paying vehicle tax

Old vehicles constructed before 1 January 1973 (historic vehicles)

If your vehicle was constructed before 1 January 1973, you could tax it in the 'historic vehicle' tax class. Further information can be found on leaflet INF34.

Ah, thank you Dave and Oracle. I wasn't aware they had changed the rules! :?

If I may ask, you still pay road tax on your P6?

Apparently it missed out on tax exemption by a couple of days. It was built in the 2nd week of January and the owner was told by the DVLA that they would have allowed a week's grace, but not two. (First time I've heard that there's any flexibility in the ruling.)

I've heard on the local grapevine that it's now been sold.

You're on Anglesey too then Darth?
You may have seen mine about as well then - Mexico brown 2000TC in well used condition. I live in Malltraeth and work in Menai Bridge, using the P6 most days.

I've not heard that....I'd really doubt if DVLA would do that...

So do I, it's a build date, and it's either built in 1972 or it's not, and the second (or first) week of January 1973 is "not"

I'm in Llangefni. From your description I've seen your P6 in Llangefni's only real supermarket car park, have I not?

Ah, now I remember the Llangefni market from my family holidays in the 70's, a very distant relative of mine drove the first car on Anglesey for a Doctor at the time. I saw the car when it was being restored probably early 80's before my father died.

The market is still here on Thursdays (and now Saturdays), but not half as much as it once was. :(

If you mean the one where you invariably have the whole shop to yourself, then yes you probably have! (Or even Asda on very rare occasions.) Feel free to say hello next time.

I may have been Asda, thinking about it... I will next time!
