If it works as is, why disturb anything? Mine has a 3 ohm 12v coil (Lucas dlb101), has 2 wires into the coil, everything behaves well, starts well.
Correction - mine is the wrong coil! If you have bypassed the ballast resistor you wont have the improved starting that a ballast with the correct coil gives. You can only test for ballast presence with current flowing - disconnect the coil from the dizzy, connect coil -ve to earth, ign on, test with meter - if a ballast is present you will see ~9V, else close to battery volts.
