This sounds like a good day out and I'd like to come along providing I am not working that day and have managed to finish getting my Rover 2000 roadworthy.

Excellent. I'll put you on the list Dayle.

Folks
Just to let you know I've just spoken to the organiser at Nuffield and they're looking forward to seeing us on 18th August.
Arrival after 10am - Chris Marshall and I should be there slightly before that.

Sadly the cafe facilities will not be open though, so if you're coming please bring drinks and a picnic. There are numerous excellent places at Nuffield for eating al fresco.

Now around 20 cars coming, we can take more.

See you then
Nick

Depending on my work schedule I may show you up with an SD1 if that's allowed

Not 100% though

Looks really good but unfortunately I cannot make it. Think I may go and look at the house some time. Hope you have agreat day out. Cheers Tony Bunting

Mr. Grim your SD1 is more than welcome!

We've got a good selection of cars coming now, I count now around 30, should be a good day. See you there.

If anyone else is coming please PM me so we have a full picture of numbers involved.

Cheers

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Well, due to the delivery of wrong parts too late in the day to swap for the correct ones (wrong size fuel pipes for my injectors whilst I have the inlet manifold off for a valley gasket) I will be at work tomorrow putting my car back together :|

Hope the day goes well and there are cameras about :) Maybe next time

Hi All,

I just wanted to thank everybody who helped organise this event and also those who turned up for making this a really nice day out. Although the weather didn't cooperate, it was a really nice drive and when I got there everyone was really chatty, friendly and helpful, so well worth the drive from Cambridgeshire :D .

Thank you all!
Dayle

Despite the weather a nice day - really interesting to see how Lord Nuffield lived. Got there first so a solitary wait for a bit, but a good showing later. Drive back was eventful. Got caught right in the middle of the torrential rain storm while I was heading down the A34 - great fun!

A few pics of the day

Presumably the house is preserved as it was when it was alive ? When was that? I was admiring his radio and TV !

Yes it is Dave, it's mainly pre-war. The lady who co-ordinates the premises is talking about some of the walls which were repainted in the 1960's being put back as they were. It's pretty enchanting. Lord Nuffield (William Austin) died in 1963.

Just a quick photo of the house I stood heavily shielded under an umbrella whilst everyone went on a tour of the house.

You certainly can't predict the elements, and we did draw the short straw, but still had over 20 cars there yesterday.

Thankyou to everyone who came

Cheers
Nick

Sorry that we couldn't make it,spent the day waiting for the Police

A very nice gent arrived here in a stunning MGB roadster, while we were having a cuppa some thieving scumbag robbed his car of its contents whilst parked outside my front door

looks like i missed a great day!

Me too :(

The only Rover meet I've managed this year has been in a Peugeot

I'm not bitter and the year isn't over yet

I'm embarrassed to say that Lucky and I arrived about 20 mins after most people had gone  But I had a great time looking around the house, a lovely cup of tea and Rover chat in Abingdon (thanyou), and an absolutely splendid cross country run in the downpour!

Chris
