I had a similar problem recently on my sisters old skoda felicia, Gear oil was dripping slowly from under the dash around the steering column. It turned out to be a corroded and blocked up gearbox breather, when the gearbox got warm the pressure was forcing oil up the speedo cable and it was slowly dripping out of the end where it clips to the back of the speedo.
The same thing happened on my other half's Nissan Micra back in the 80's
I think the speedo cable was redesigned .On that you pulled out the speedo drive to check the oil level in the box
