Oil Pressure Gauge

Hopefully someone has a solution.... my 2000tc's gauge does not show any oil pressure at all but the oil light goes out. I checked the back of the gauge and there does not appear to be any connections to it, I assume the feed is through the PCB is that correct?

Not sure where to check for power to the gauge either,

Any ideas?

IIRC, there are two sensors on the engine - 1 for the warning light and one for the gauge. So first thing I'd do is check the connections to all the sensors you can find under the bonnet. (Someone will soon correct me if I've remembered that wrong!)
The connection to the instrument panel is via one of the multiplugs into the PCB. You could try waggling them gently but I don't remember ever noticing a fault there. I have had to replace the odd gauge though when they were faulty.

Thanks Willy,

I have checked all connections and as far as I can see all is OK. Is there a way of checking the power to the gauge?

Remove the wire from the large oil sender unit on one of the external oil pipe fittings, and with the ignition on, earth the wire. The guage should go full travel. If it does the sender is faulty, if it doesn't the fault is back towards the gauage, so work backwards from the sender until you find it.

Hi Stan,

Thanks for your reply.

How do I check the sender have found it and it has a connector inline should there be power there when engine running?

Mine is 2000TC so wiring is different from yours, there are 2 spades connecting to back of ammeter but nothing on back of Oil Gauge, I assume that is fed from multi plug.
