oil warning light

Hi all,
Happy new year to all P6 members. The oil warning light on my 1971 3500 auto has been doing strange things for quite a while now, (the bulb is okay) turn on ignition and most times there is no light, on some occasions the light will just "glow" and sometimes with the engine "ticking over" with the oil pressure around 20psi the light will come on, I have not been too concerned about this as the oil pressure gauge is showimg good oil pressure at cruising speed etc, I suspect that the sender is probably giving up, does anyone have any other suggestions and also where is a good place to get a replacement. Many thanks.

Hi Dave

Happy New Year :)

Try taking the wire off the oil pump with the ignition on, earth the end of it. The ignition light should light up.

If it doesn't, the sender is FUBAR

Cheers

Richard
