on ebay

Ah...now I get it...this must be part of the plan to drive P6 prices up.

Gosh! If the price had been £200 rather than 2,000 it might be a reasonable buy! The interior looks better than you might expect and most of the important bits look to be there. I do like the pair of Sheerlines ahead of it!

That does seem really pricey. I seem to remember, relatively recently, that there was a brown project on ebay for a while, and it was about £600, and it appeared to be in better condition.

I love how realistic you guys are...

The cool thing is, this such a rare care yet still nobody is getting their knickers in a bunch about it. My other interest, which is declining now, is Mk1 and Mk2 escorts (Sorry, shoot me if you like). But they are becoming ridiculously over-priced, especially with the Mk1 'Type 49' shell. A fairly ropey and bare type 49 shell can fetch £2000k easily! And the difference? It's got double skinned strut tops, some extra strengthening (not much), anti-tramp bar mountings and some extra holes in the boot floor. Woooo...

Considering how many were made & relatively speaking, I don't think they're that rare. There is quite a good survival rate & all you need is the pop-riveted added-on estate parts & you can convert a saloon into an estate, which has been done.
You're right about the Mk1 Escorts though. Mexico's £10K, RS2000 £12,500, RS1600, £25K. Current condition 1 price-guide.

That's exactly what I'm doing. My estate was rotten, but all of the estate parts will be going onto my NADA car at some stage..

I had a donor estate that was worse than that one which I bought and used to build my own estate. The donor was without engine and box as well, because someobody in Swansea had removed them to put into a landy off roader. The real bad news was that they steam cleaned the car (engine bay) before removing the engine and left it without bonnet and it was well rotten, but the back end had survived.
My second estate, which replaced the one I did the conversion on, was also a conversion on its second base unit. My third estate is all original, however arrived with no floor and rotten panels, but is getting there (very slowly) But that said, I do have all the bits to do it again, so might convert another baseunit yet.
Costs?
First one rotten with no engine or box £400
Second one complete and MOT'able £900
Third one complete but in need of serious welding £450
Fourth well no car but all the bits to do another £400.

So even with P6 prices excalating £2k is asking alot but I would have to ask first, just how good is the cars baseunit itself?
If the conversion is good and the baseunit is good, repanelling is the easy bit.
