OUCH (& ouch again)!

..I have no idea if the VIC requirement and write off details can be removed from the records.

That's just what I'm trying to do at the moment Richard, but the insurers are being less than 'transparent'. :(

Here she is nearing completion....

& here's my '64 2000 - a bit on the back burner at the moment :(

You really need to stick a 3.9 fuel injected V8 in that 1964 car
and a big spoiler on the front and rear Phil......

....I'll go quietly now......

You're stuffed if it has a VIC check.

The Cat C status will stay and your log book (V5) will come back as
"Repaired with parts some or all of which were not new"

Not that this matters if you intend to keep the car.

You also need to make sure that your present insurers (whatever your think about them)
are prepared to continue insuring the car as SOME Classic Policy people will not cover a Cat C repaired car without an 'Engineers Certificate'

That is a lovely garage.
Many thanks, TP - it's my haven! :D. We had it built when we moved here 10 years ago. I've read other 'double garage build' threads with interest.
Did you notice my beloved pit under the V8?

I spoke again with the insurers today (although my tone has become a bit more like shouting now :x ) & it looks like a change to a Cat D will be offered.

I may have to agree with it. Whilst I'm not happy, I have a life to live & a car I want to drive again :) , so I want to get this matter closed.

That's if they actually ring me back on Monday!

I can't see why they are taking so long :?
Ask for interest on the payout, that must be their game
If you didn't have another car to use or somewhere that wasn't free to store it this would have to have been sorted by now :)

She's almost there!
Just doing some extra bits now...

Has anyone seen this panel like this before?
especially when the rest has survived fully intact!

..anyway, I've put a new piece in tonight:

I imagine that's a mud trap ?
You must be really itching to get that car back on the road
If your car is permanently Cat D registered , you could try a "diminution in value "
claim against the responsible party

When the car that rams you up the arse so hard, it forces you into the rear of the car you were safely stopped behind, then it is not your fault,it is the fault of the driver that rammed you up the arse!
They will be liable for all damage caused!
My brother was waiting at traffic lights behind 2 other cars when he was hit from behind by a 3.5t van, causing a billiard ball effect, and the 2 cars in front of him were also badly damaged as well.
The van drivers insurance had to pay out for all 3 vehicles damaged.
It was filmed on cctv, and clearly showed the van driver at fault.

Something like that happened near here about 20 years ago... something like twenty cars written off, plus another seventy damaged! Can't remember any more details, unfortunately.

Condolences to the OP, by the way. All car insurers are absolute bastards. I remember getting a quote, as a 17-year-old, for a £1500 car, and they wanted 15k a year to insure me on it! They really thought that I'd write the car off ten times every year, without fail...

Hi, they are working on the high statistical probability (odds on certainty) that a new 17 yr old male
driver will have an accident in the first year. A friends son bought a brand new Saxo with free first
years insurance. He has three accidents in the first year (which he thought was amusing, almost
proud even). Then when he tries to get his own ins cover it's astronomic, It was actually cheaper
to trade it in and buy another Saxo with first year cover free. Also its not just cost of your repairs
but the cost of damage inflicted elsewhere.

I spoke again with the insurers yesterday & to cut a long story short, they are likely to agree to my suggestion of 3 March. Subject to HO approval, the car will be removed from the write-off register :p & I'll get the reduced payout that I was prepared to accept.

Just got to wait another week....

Here's hoping and praying that everything turns out OK! They've been absolute bastards so far, even going so far as to send a scrap merchant around to put your car in 'secure storage'...

It's 6 months  to the day & date that Hazel got shunted. For the 1st time on Friday my insurers RANG ME

They are removing the car off the write-off register & paying me my repair costs! MOT this week I hope in time for a couple of rallies next Sunday & the one after :D

A pain it has been, but the right result in the end 8)
