Had to fit a new diff as the old one was very noisy, so purchased a complete axle and while I had the opportunity decided to clean things up a little. Here are a few pictures of the process so far. 8)

Is that every Sunday stina, or once a month or bi-monthly, as I wouldn't mind a trip one sunny Sunday

Very nice. Didn't know you could polish the cover up. Is it original?

It's amazine what other uses "Mr Sheen" has, yes original.
To be honest it's not that good close up, to start with it was very rust and after scurfing off it was getting a bit thin and didn't wan't to break through, but if you started with a good one it's possible to get and piece looking as good as chrome. Obviously it will rust if not protected.

No problems, look forward to it and catch up with yours

Hi Steve

We have had P5 historical resto pictures before, but I think you probably get the prize for the first bit of P5 resto in action! The result looks awesome!

Chris

Good to see some P5 work on the forum :D

Nice job on the rear axle Steve. Attention to detail makes all the difference.

Dave

Thank you all for your kind remarks, when I do more I'll post it up, just wasn't sure you guys and gals were into P5's
Thanks again =, Steve

Check my signature Steve :D

Along with many other forum members who also have P5s or have an interest in P5s.

We are the Classic Rover Forum and although we mostly chat about P6s we love to see other Rovers too :D

Now how did I miss this? Didn't realise you'd added a P5 to the fleet Dave...must have happened while I was on holiday! Nice one!

Looking a good bit of work there Steve...if I ever managed to expand my space base, a P5B would definitely be taking up residence. :)

You've had a holiday already.....it's only just May! Must be tough life down south

A certain young P6 owner from the south of Scotland relinquished ownership of Cruella (as my kids have named her) a few weeks ago.

All Rovers welcome even though it is still mostly a P6 forum, most of us either have dreams of other Rover Models or have a small collection.

I spotted the rear exhaust was missing the twin pipes on the can, took me another 10 minutes to notice you have a twin rear. Is it just split at the Rear or full cross over system?

Did you have to dump the spare wheel to fit it?

Colin

Ahh...now I understand! Well done mate.

And yes Dave...almost right. Not necessarily a holiday. Looking at the bank balance, it's more than likely the holiday!

Yes Colin, the exhaust has no front exhaust box with the pipe split as it passes over the axle into two " flowtech raptor" mufflers and sounds great IMHO very much like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlcKhexbk1w. Now because of the reduced width under the floor the spare is in the boot! Heres an old picture of a rover I did last year

That was similarand give an idea, glad you like it. :D

Very nice exhaust system, I see the bends are sympathetically designed to ensure optimum flow. How much does it change the volume of the V8 soundtrack?

My P5B came with a PD Gough Stainless system that I am very pleased with and wondered if the change in mufflers is 'neighbourhood friendly'.

Good luck with future work!
