P6 Battery

Does anyone know what Battery should be fitted to the P6 V8? All the manual states is that the capacity should be 60 A/hr but doesn't mention battery type. I have had a bit of trouble finding a battery that will fit in the battery tray in the boot of the car. The failing battery already fitted was an Exide type 088 - which has been replaced. The replacement for that one is one of the ones that doesn't fit!
 
I just went to my local motor factors and tried a couple in the hole, got a 60ah VARTA battery - car starts no trouble at all now.

If I can find the receipt I'll let you know the model number.
 
and having just posted that I have found the receipt product code is MA57040 varta

Just double check the size as I got one for the P4 at some point last year so it could be the wrong receipt. The P4 battery is must longer and higher though so you couldn't mix the 2 up.
 
Look for an 071 battery without any lugs on the side. This is a bit smaller than the 091 originally fitted but the 091 seem s obsolete
OR take the battery box to your supplier and ask for one that fits

Thanks very much for your help. I will take the box into my local parts shop on wednesday, and see which one fits that has the correct capacity.
