P6 bonnet... - i want scoops!

hello to you all, i hope your P6's are well. i want to get a bonnet for a P6 that has a bonnet scoop in (or on!) it. not the 3 scoops but just the single one in the middle... any help at all would be appreciated. all the best everybody...

Hi grifterkid!

I presume you want to have a centre scoop on an S2 bonnet like the red ROV 6 C pictured in "top price P6" in the "that's life" section?

The scoop can be simply bolted into a standard bonnet - once you have the two together it is very obvious that there really is only one location for it to look right, so no need for templates or whatever. Then it's your choice as to whether you make it functional by cutting a hole under it or leave it as a purely visual dummy. If you cut a hole you will also need a little V shaped "dam" which fits to the bonnet inside the front of the scoop and channels rain water out of the two holes in the sides of the scoop a couple of inches back from the front - otherwise you'll have a wet engine!

Original NADA scoops can often be had from Ian Wilson (see link to Joseph's P6 Spares on this website) or repro ones can be had from Alan Ramsbottom at Beechgrove Engineering 01525 382953. Or there are some links to breakers in the USA on Rudiger Wicke's web site.
