Hi guys, ok, I have the 2200 engine out and I have a 2000 ready to put in, Will I need to put the Flywheel and clutch off the 2200 engine, on to the 2000 engine, as they do look different? and the stater motors are different.I really should get round to buying a book. cheers.

If you do change the flywheel make sure that you use the starter motor which went with that flywheel. It sounds like you have a 2000 motor with an inertia type starter. Inertia starters need the bevel to be on the rear of the ring gear. All the 2200's has pre engaged starters. These have the bevel on the front of the ring gear as the pinion comes in from the front, rather than the rear.

The oil leak past the timing chest cover (the disk on the front of the chest that allows front access to the chain tensioner) is solved by levering the disk out, fitting a new rubber 'O' ring in the aperture and then tapping the disk back in with a wooden mallet.

Thanks guys, The engine is pushing oil out from the cap that covers the timing chain , I put some neat oil in the num 4 plug hole and it made the compression better, but still not a lot. The strange thing is it was fine when I drove it home but starting the next day on 3, and its played up ever since then, I think I will have to take the head off, cos I do love this old girl. I have just fitted all new brake pipes, New batt, new tyres, new carpet so I will have to mend her.
