my exhaust on my v8 p6 sometimes knocks slighty when I go over a bump.
is there anything that I can fit to prevent this>
perhaps rubber piece or would this cause heat issues ???

i think they normally do this if all the rubber hangers etc arent there.... Might just be worth checking their presence to start with?

Make sure the bump rubber is fitted to the top of the intermediate box. The pipe into the intermediate box can also foul on the pinion crossmember. The rear box is also prone to hitting the side of the bootwell if not correctly mounted and aligned.

I think this is the crux of many exhaust issues, particularly when parts of the exhaust impact against the body or other parts. It can also be tricky trying to figure out which bit is hitting which. Look for tell-tale marks on the exhaust and the bodywork before doing anything else. It's worthwhile loosening all the exhaust flanges and hangers to check the exhaust is naturally following the correct route. An exhaust that is pulled away from where it naturally wants to go will inevitably cause problems. Make sure you have all the correct brackets and hangers (check the workshop manual) and once you've got it all aligned correctly, tighten everything up.
