paint code

hi.
looking for the paint code information tag on my RED rover 3500, V8.
In the engine bay is a compliance plate on the passenger side top of the guard, just near it are 2 stamped numbers actually in the fabric of the guard, are these a paint code ?455330312 E
and underneath it is HP 2124-376...........
I was told that the red colour is CAMELIAN red, but cant find any reference to it in Rover data?

Hi Peter, the number 455330312E is the chassis number. HP2124376 is an internal Nelson factory code and is 2124th unit assembled there 376 is build date of March 1976. The NZ cars had their paint code on a paper label which never lasted very long. The factory reds were Pimento Red or Bitter Apricot, my car which is build 2125 is Bitter Apricot. If your car has been repainted during the last 41 years it could be Camelian Red so a colour match may be needed to confirm what the true colour is.

I think the name is CARNELIAN (a reddish/brown gemstone) rather than Camelian.
