pc less but p6 on the roading again!

hi guys
my pc has died but am available on 01425 479838 if you should need to speak to me.
my p6 i'm picking up now so its off to break some speed limits and crank up the cd!
i've to discover if the mis fire i've had for four years has been cured by a v8 guru!
or am i believing people again?

the pc works again!
it appears to have fixed itself
my p6 hasn't though and its the same as ever!
as soon as i hit a hill or try overtaking it misfires!
the more i put foot down the more it stops!
fuel starvation or electrical?
gonna try a new fuel pump
apart from that though it has only numberous other faults!

Have you had a look at your air filters? If they are dirty, they can cause this type of thing. Other things may be not enough fuel delivery, blockage somewhere in your carb, floats at the wrong height or sticking, sticking pisons, dirty fuel filter (are there gauze filters in the carb?), and a whole host of electrical problems.

I spent weeks (Ok months) setting up my engine only to get it spot on, then found it ran very lean for a day. Just a day to start with but then more regularly running so lean that it wouldn't tickover and just died when I tried to accelerate. I eventually found a very small piece if white plastic (Similar to PTFE tape) stuck to the base of the idle jet. This was blocking the idle jet sometimes, but would sit in the base of the primary well at other times not causing any problems. (Weber Carb)

It may be a good idea to strip your carbs and make sure they are clean throughout.
 
hi i am having the same problem i just put a new engine in last month cause it was misfiring then the engine started to knock big time to that block came out now i got a recon 1 is with the same carbs and the inlet and distributor and the pump and its missing again when you give it bit of gas but when its ticking over sweet as a nut so i looked at my filter when it revs up it done seem to fill up the filter fast enought so just order a new 1 so just waiting now to put that on and see wot happenes cause how ever i tryed to get the carbs it just misses and the timming is spot on but when we try and do the dwell its just cuts out any more ideas

i took it to an auto electrician who said it was fuel not getting through.
it has an electric pump which i shall change.
it runs really sweetly, starts well, pulls like a train and as soon as you go up a hill it misfires like a new hobby!
as soon as you give it lots of throttle it splutters and yet if i ease off it starts to be sweet again.
this can be at 10 mph or 90!
(being followed by the other half last night!oops!)
it'll cruise at 80 on the flat but on a hill i have to get out and push!
well, not quite but its embarrassing getting overtaken by everything i've just overtaken!
my series 1 brake overhaul is a money pit!
everything needs changing and always when the shops have shut!
if it gets any worse i'll have to get a job to pay for it all!

The timing isn't spot on, because you need to set the dwell before you set the timing.
 
yea sorry bout that i for got yea when i try and set the dwell the engine just cuts out i am hoping its the fuel pump if not it could be the distburtor what else could it be

oddly it looks like the twin of yours!
is there a message here?
 
yea well they are sisters lol well i just got mt new pump yesterday so i did try and put it on last night but ran in to some problems with the petrol feed got reroot it and i was hoping to do it this morning but its rainning in cardiff and it out of the garage so i will try and do it next week some time fingers cross lets hope its just that
