Pinking/Fuel Additive

Hi All,

More brain picking! Mine is a s2 2000tc.

I have timed to 6 BTDC new plugs points and sorted sticking jet but now still have pinking under power. I don't know if the head has been modified for unleaded should I use an additive and if so what is recommended?

are you using super unleaded? Better on 2 fronts... Less ethanol and higher octane which should help the pinking. I dont think the america-bound 2000s had hardened seats, but i'm not sure on that front not being a 4 pot expert... (or any sort of expert for that matter! )

Hello Mark. The engine is OHV, The head is aluminium alloy, therefore the valves have to have hardened seats!

In your situation, I would be adjusting the vernier adjuster on the distributor until the pinking goes away.
