Hi All,
Seen This kit on Fleabay. Seems like a cheap way o do point free ignition. Anyone got this setup? Any good? :?:

Looks similar to the aldon Ignitor which I have just fitted to the P4, and about a 1/3 of the price

let us know how the aldon goes in the p4 mine was removed within 18 months as it failed i went back to points so it was an expensive exercise, rich

This is the Simon BBC kit (look at his sellers name), which has had quite a lot of coverage on here, none negative. But make sure you get the correct one, there are two versions of the P6 distributor and then there's the SD1 version.

So how do I know if I've got a Lucas 35D dizzy? Car is a 1971 V8, and I've no reason to believe the dizzy's ever been off the car. :?:

You have got a 35D8 - just that there are two different types. One has a solid baase plate (where the points are bolted in) the other a triangular one. I should take a photo of the inside of your distributor and send it to Simon for him to confirm this is the right kit.

As Chris says, you will have a 35D8, and there are 2 types of baseplate.

Have a look >here<about 2/3 down the page. Grab the pics to your PC, check which baseplate you have, and send the relevant pic to simonbbc.

Let us know how you get on!

Cheers,

Sounds like a plan! Taken some pics, this is the set up I've got. I'll send simonbbc an E-mail too.

Thanks!

Well, I got my kit, but after sending Simon a pic of the dizzy, and him saying it would fit, it turned up, and didn't fit, so its back to square one. Don't want to say anything more about it at the moment though, because I'm waiting a response from him about a refund. I don't think they do a kit for the other type of P6 dizzy. I'll ring him after Xmas for a chat about it. He seems pretty reasonable, has a good feedback rating, and has a no quibble return guarantee, so all should be well. I'm going to have a look at the accuspark setup too, which is a similar price, but for now, its back to the points... :|

If I'm not mistaken the AccuSpark will be near identical to and fit the same distributor as the SimonBBC one, ie. not yours. Same happened to me, I got the refund OK, but had to get the Pertronix Ignitor type LU-183 from these guys in the end. Cost $69.95 plus p/p, works a treat.

Same fitted one on my p62200 and to be honest its the best thing ive ever done of flee bay under £40 and now has quicker start more responsive
better fuel and smoother running if i get a year out of it would stillbe happy rather this than mess about woth stupid points set up and looks very neat to

Cool.. I think I'm going to go with the Pertronix ignitor too. Bit more expensive, but hopefully a good move. I'll have to make sure I get the right one though... :)
