Rally TC on You Tube

Accidentally found this link to a photo series of a truly beautifully turned out S1 TC competing in a German Rally. There are other links around this one to video of the event at least one of which has the TC in. There's also a photo series of the cars construction.

I think the car is Dutch? Is the owner on here? Or anyone know how to invite him?

Indeed...gorgeous-looking.

Couldn't work out though why the bonnet's numbered 217 and the doors 216. OK...call me a pedant. :D (This may have been explained but I couldn't be arsed to turn the sound on).

Well found, Chris! :)

Nice slideshow, and I like the jazz soundtrack too. That's a cracker of a P6. Sill-scraping cornering action! Is body roll made worse by having a rollcage, presumably raising the center of gravity? I wonder if the car has an uprated front anti-sway bar, or is still fitted with the standard one. Does anybody know why the bonnet has those odd 'flaps' on either side at the front? To cover some quick-release hood pins perhaps?

Could be. I thought I saw some leather straps in that location on one photo. I'd guess the flaps are the health and safety response to striking a pedestrian.... cough!!

Do have a look at some of the videos of the event. Besides the P6 there are some star turns like Mk1 Lotus Cortinas, an Auto Union 1000 2 stroke, a Renault Dauphine etc

The guy who owns it is RP6C Member Johan Lowik and he is Dutch. He has an interesting webpage at http://www.classic-rover.nl but if you sign up for the newsletter you'll have to use something like the google translator to read it.
I ran a page in the last mag with some of the pictures he sent me and the write up had the link in it also.

You're a Pedant!
Ok, my guess is that JXC8C, the original Monte Carlo rally car that is still around somewhere in restored condition has got the number 217 painted on the bonnet and doors. This car was presumably built as a replica of JXC which is why it has the 217 and the Monte Carlo rally plaque on the bonnet, unfortunately it looks like they were unable to procure that number for this rally and got the closest they could and were only required to put numbers on the doors.
