Started re-assembling my twin carb set-up this afternoon. I've painstakingly unmasked the freshly painted intake manifold, and I've cut out my own paper/card gaskets for the water pipe fittings on the front and back of the intake manifold. See pic below. Do I re-fit the stubby pipe at the back and the outlet neck covering the thermostat at the front dry, with just the grey cardboad gaskets? Or should I use a smear of something? If so, what? Vaseline? The fiendishly expensive Loctite Super Gasket stuff I've bought to seal up the oil sump and autobox pan? Or some other brand of squidgy gasket product that I haven't yet bought a whole bottle of, only to need the merest smidgeon thereof once in my lifetime!? But seriously chaps, how best to proceed?
