Really?!?!

Some items are ridiculously but you can pick up mist items fairly cheaply. For example the P6 club now does new leather covers for the steering wheels priced at £39 IIRC, and I'm sure buying a used one and recovering it won't come out at that price!

Very true.
Im on a steep learning curve here and Ive still got to work out whats reasonable to whats ridiculous, however, Id venture that Two hundred sticky ones is a tad optimistic.

I dunno, if you wanted a concourse car then I think punters would jump at the chance for a new wheelie thingee, get me a new dash top at that price and I would be jumping for it too.

Yes, that's not something you're going to find if you're actually looking for one, so will command a premium. Generally, most things are reasonably priced if you shop around & do your research.

Yeah, but its just a std leather cover, and if you dont fit it properly or pay to have it done it wont last long!!!!
Then try getting the middle section recovered as per original!!!
There are a few owners out there who will buy it and only fit it for shows,or fit it to a trailer queen!

Very true Pilkie, tbh being the tightwad I am I would probably try and recover an old steering wheel, it would end up looking a complete abomination so I would chuck it away and buy the NOS one instead
I suppose if I had just completed a complete restoration of my car a NOS wheel would be a perfect finish to the interior.

I can't say I can recall ever having seen a NOS power steering wheel of either variety or, for that matter, a NOS wood rim wheel. So in those circumstances this one is going to be pricey. But you can usually pick up extremely presentable 2nd hand ones of the same variety for in the range £30 to £60. NOS parts prices really depend on their rarity. We all tend to have a pretty good idea what's rare and what isn't. For instance, front sidelamp/indicator light units are a certain corrosion victim (on the back around the bulb holders) and stocks of new ones are getting very thin - so the NOS price has been creeping up to a cough inducing level. Apart from a couple of headliners, though, things are pretty sane.

I suppose my initial wry look at that wheel was based on factors that didnt really take into account potential buyers with concourse cars or ones that they are aiming to create.
Im fairly sure tho that a steering wheel could be recovered and stiched by a pro upholsterer for less than £200.
I got a quote a few years back to have a Scim leather seat repaired and i got quoted about the same for the whole seat to be stripped, some leather replaced and all put back together again.
Hey, If they get £200 for it, great, if the buyer is happy to pay it great again.
Thats how the World turns! 8)
