Dear Forum,
I have stripped down both my gearbox in use and my spare gearbox. In both gearboxes, the rear Layshaft Bearing split open when I pulled the gearbox casing away from the bell housing (in accordance with the instructions in HBOL), leaving the outer casings of both of the rear layshafts' in situ in the rear of the gearbox and in so doing, presenting themselves as a sort of 'needle roller bearing', attached to the end of the layshaft?
Is this normal, or have these layshaft bearings failed, please?
