Red Rover Rebuild

HI all,
I'm about to start on my project and have been reading through the past members projects with great interest.
As I'm starting at the front suspension is it possible to lower the front by 3 inches?
I feel that it would give the P6 a more aggressive stance :)

Hi Ozi,

They can be lowered, not sure though if 3" is feasible or not. The two ways that I know of are cut a section out of the swivel pillar and then weld the two sections back together, or cut a section out of the tubular shaft that holds the ball end against the spring cup.

Either way, you'll need to have an inspection undertaken by an engineer (university qualification in mechanical engineering) so as to have it approved or not as the case maybe.

Ron.

to be honest i wouldn't lower your car 3 inches--rover handles like a puppy on a lead as it is -- unless you up rate just about everything--I had idea of total change of suspension-double A arm which would help

Anything is possible and plenty of ways of going about it, but 3" is a lot and will potentially lead to a lot of further issues from my experience. Not sure if this is relevant now the car has gone?
