Replacement alloy wheels

I believe these are standard 14 inch SD1 alloys so should fit without any issues, of course I'm ready to be corrected

Yep. Standard series 1 SD1 alloys, 14 x 6". They will bolt straight on with the appropriate wheel nuts. Occasionally they need some modifications to the front hub grease cap too.

Thanks Mikep and Roverkiwi, now I will be looking out for a set.... as I said, wonderful site :D

I have these fitted, I got my wheel nuts from Wins,I got black to match the anthracite wheels, chrome are available. I got a pair of SD1 front grease caps from Rimmers. The original grease caps are too large for the wheel centre.

These were the original alloys first fitted to the SD1.

These came later and were fitted to the 3500S or was it SE I can't remember the model exactly. I prefer them to the older ones though.

I always thought these were the later Series 2 alloys for the SE/Vanden Plas? :?

Hi Mike,

They are the later alloy wheels and they were fitted to the SE and Vanden Plas. Certainly that was the case in Australia. The earlier SD1 models that came with alloy wheels had the other type as pictured on John's Rover.

Well if that's the case it just goes to show how little attention I was paying when I was compelled to work on those POS.

Mmmm, early is best, unless you follow the trend and go for the Vitesse 15" alloys :D
I like them all in various fitments

Of course there'd be a club, Graeme! The SD1 is an iconic car. It's simply a shame that BL could never be bothered to screw them together properly.

Even with my jaded and biased palate I'd have to say that by the time they finished making them in 86 they really had upped their game and they weren't that badly put together at all, certainly when compared to the competition, but because the early ones were so appallingly bad by that time their bad reputation was sealed and it was way too late for them to do anything about it.

Great video. especially liked the comment made on it by people who watched it, nice to know the camera car is still a runner.
