Yep

Sparky has had a respray.

While at worh today, 2 very nice teenagers broke into my garage and resprayed Sparky in a matt balck finish. Not all of it, just some nice patterns including a smiley face.

Police are downstairs taking statements.

What can I say (that can be printred)

That's dreadful!

Can you get it off carefully with thinners before it goes too hard? A quick wipe might do it without damaging the paint underneath. Best to swill with water afterwards though.

Christ almighty my friend, it's sickening. Gives people my sort of age a bad reputation - and makes you wonder what the country as a whole is coming to. I hope they're brought to book and made to pay for a respray. I really feel for you bud.

Still, on the plus side at least it'll match afterwards...

I can't do anyhting until scenes of crime have been round to take fingerprints

sorry to hear bout that m8 kids cant leave nothing along these days when my rover is out side the house there are kids always looking at it and i just cant trust them that way i got a knock of whitch and alarm cause these kids would try and steal it

Well - they have gone.

Last Sunday I took the car to one of these hand car washes because I had been overworking and couldn't be bothered to wash it myself. I was on the way to a local show so wanted it to look its best. They talked me into having it polished with this Autoglym stuff.

I have now washed the car with Toluene (not a clever thing to do - unless you know how to handle the stuff and then only a last resort).

It all came off - the black paint not the lunar grey.

I do believe that the toly would have lifted the Lunar grey if it had not been polished so well.

So mostly back to normal except the two windows they broke and next door's conservatory.

They picked up a tin of my satin black paint, walked around the car with it, then put it back on the shelf.

Nice prints :)

lol yea hope they get locked up for it

I feel like tearing them some new orifices but the Poilce reckon it's illegal? What sort of law is that?

One good thing is that they failed to get into the house - the garage feels somehow desecrated now.

I have never been broken into before and really do NOT like the feeling.

That was clever of them... didn't realise they used your paint too. But to put it back on the shelf... I wonder who they'd sold their shared brain cell to?

P.S. Do you have any pics of it from Sunday? I thought it looked rather good but didn't take any pics at the gala myself.

i may be a bit of an extremist and i admit that i would be wrong in cutting off their flipping fingers!
only from the point of view of future finger printing mind!
oh well, back to my cave!

I can empathise with you - fortunately when we were broken into, it was also 'just' the garage - they took a music system (by cutting all the power leads :? ).

You do feel a bit 'unclean' for a while after, but I can assure you it will pass.

Hello Richard,

I am sorry to hear that your garage was broken into and that Sparky suffered a graffiti attack.

Hanging is too good for them. They deserve a damn good thrashing.

Ron.

Little scrotums that do things like that should be stuck on a remote Scottish island and be left to fend for themselves...!!! It just goes to show that even when you think you've got your posessions locked up safely on private property they still aren't 100% secure... Let's just hope something really mis-fortunate happens to the worthless chumps that did this... I go with the 'like for like' train of thought so if you ever do find them give them a good going over with some satin black, that's should make them stand out...!!! I'm pleased the car came up after a good cleanse...

There's some car polish on the shopping channels where they do this for a demo - polish the car first , aerosol spray it and then use some of the same polish and the spray paint just wipes off.

The only good thing is that they didn't pick up a screwdriver and use it to scratch all the panels or tip brake fluid all over it

It's not easy to make a garage thiefproof - some sort of bolt that locates into the frame or the ground seems to be the answer

I've only just seen this Richard (not been on much lately) & I'm gobsmacked really sorry to here about this incident

Regards Col

Thanks all

Sparky will be getting a T Cut and polish tomorrow which will hopefully get rid of any shadows still on there.

Non Illegitemi Carborundum as the Romans used to say.

I am going to a classic car on Sunday and will be taking Sparky.

Sorry to hear about your troubles - I wouldn't put much trust/hope in the Court system, even if they have left prints and are found.
They will first get legal aid and employ a slimey defense solicitor ( sorry to any that we might have here)
If they are kids, the Court will then want a pre-sentence report from the Youth Justice Team.
The Youth Justice Team are not allowed to recommend prison, but they will come up with a list of excuses for their behaviour ( Mum doesn't love them, its was your fault for having the car, fancy leaving paint in your garage etc etc).
Court will then (and this is they want to punish them) place them on a supervision order. This means they will need to see a Youth Offending Officer once a week for a set period of time.
If they are lucky, they will get a referral order. This means a one-off trip to a "panel" of good period during which Young person has to cough to the crime and promise not to do it again.

My wife prosecutes in the local Magistrates Court, you really wouldn't believe what people do and are still allowed to walk the streets. They just don't want to send people to prison.

My own view is that if you catch them, you should be allowed to keep them - hence the reason why I still want a house with a basement ;) It would be quick justice and wouldn't cost the tax-payer a penny.

A basement full of society's dregs ? You wouldn't plan on feeding them or letting them breathe , surely

Plus one day you get the Police digging up your garden for free !
