I previously mentioned these items in a couple of Rover Club magazines.
I bought the two of them together a few years ago and paid around £25 for the pair.
The first item is a boxed silver Rover 2000 Charm
The silver charm measures approximately 3cm long x 1cm wide x 8mm high.
On the base it is engraved ‘SILVER ROVER 2000 MADE IN ENGLAND’.
On the rear bumper is a little ring to allow it to be attached to a charm bracelet or to a necklace etc.
It comes in a cream coloured presentation box, which bears the Rover insignia on the inner liner of the lid, and has a red velvet base.
The second item is a Rover 2000 paperweight
The paperweight is made from acrylic plastic and is approximately 7cm in diameter.
It has cast into it the same silver Rover 2000 charm. Along with the original ROVER 2000 script used at the launch of the P6.
The chap that I bought these from reckoned that they may have been issued at the launch of the Rover 2000, or at a special preview day.
I have never seen any other examples of these.
If anyone can give any further information on when and why they were issued or how many were made, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Colin
