Rover 2200TC

Hi All

My latest project!
IMG_0494.jpg

This car used to belong to Don Child and some of you may have looked at his restoration on the web.
The original restoration is on http://www.necpwa.org.uk/yorkbranch/p6/index.html

Needs work!
No brakes - rear calipers leaking.
No offside inner wing top, its rotted off and I can see the spring
Sills look fine, more photos when I get it home.

The engine is nice, had a rebore, new pistons, crank ground, new camshaft, chains, tensioners, side plates etc only 200 miles ago.

Rockdemon, how is sunny Loughborough, went to the teacher training college there in 1971.

Loughborough is sunny... It does have it's famed microclimate after all :)

They're currently remodelling the railway station and area around it which is nice... Quite a few bits looking a bit derelict but it cant all be good i guess. They've create a nice line of blight where they've cancelled the inner ring road. Think it's a lot bigger than it was in 1971... (we're still lucky enough to hear the steam trains from our house at weekends though!)

Sounds a great engine!

Rich.

I haven't seen a headstand for a long time, and it's something I've never owned either. ( I always did them on the car, or kept a spare block under the bench if not) Handy that you can replace the nuts if they strip. I would like to have that I must say.
(I may just have to make one now!)

The eagle eyed amongst you might have noticed in the second picture its has the Hella control unit for wiper delay, rather than the vacuum type.

The engine had a bad oil leak which was a bit dissapointing as I had rebuit the engine for the previous owner about 8 years and 1000 miles ago.I thought it was probably the rear crank seal as the bottom of the bell housing and sump were wet. I am removing the engine to tidy the engine bay so no problem but when stripping some bits off the engine I found the exhaust manifold wet with oil. Decided to look at the cam cover gasket which proved impossible as there wasn't one!

blimey i remember the car now not looking so good now  why was it laid up after being restored?

Bit more work today, The thermostat housing was full of crud and the bypass was blocked. I took the side plate off to check and considering the plates were changed 10 years ago and the car has only done 1000 miles since and it was protected by Bluecol antifreeze I was surprised at the corrosion and sludge in there.
