Rover P6 3500S NADA For Sale

I have set up a special search on Ebay which covers all P6 related items worldwide (If anyone's interested I can publish it here - but it's a bit geeky!). There are a surprisingly large number of P6's come up for sale in the States. By no means all NADA's, there's a smattering of Federal TC's as well. And not all are CAlifornian rust free either - there have been one or two real dogs!

I spoke to the seller this morning and I'm going to take a look at this one in the next week or so.

It seems it is still pretty much roadworthy and registered which isn't unheard of but is a litle bit unusual as most parts havent been easily available for a couple of decades so the ones that are still usuable end up int he hands of enthusiasts.

I'm not sure that I can get yet another old car past the eagle eyes of She Who Must Be Obeyed, so if anyone here is also interested please let me know if you need photos or specific areas checked out - PM me or email at smokeandsteam@gmail.com

That's Al's car - he posted here for a while, but he's just moved so I'm not sure how he is getting on

The TC was scrapped but he did get the 3500S up and running

If your determined to buy a NADA or Federal car there are several things to watch out for depending where the car comes from.

Cars in the Southwest tend to be pretty much free of rot, though not universally so, and you will probably need to find a complete new interior and replace all the rubber - the sun in these parts is unkind. There's also a fine talcum like dust which can play merry hell with bearings, UJs and similiar parts - when mixed with oil it makes a wonderful grinding paste.

Cars on the northern California Coast may be California cars, but they can be susceptible to rot as the climate there is rather colder and wetter than it is in SoCal and inland parts.

East Coast cars can suffer from the same rot that affects cars in colder and wetter climates - the NorthEast will be worse but a car stored near a Georgia swamp won't be pretty either

If you want a complete car rather thana donor of rust free body parts or a base unit Oregon and some Washington cars seem to be a good option as well as some mid wester cars- there may be a bit of rust but interiors and rubber seem to be in better nick. You will want to keep an eye out for modifications neccesitated by lack of parts or support - for example you'll often see locally sourced two barrel carbs with Buick or Offenhauser manifolds on the V8s as mechanics weren't up to speed with keeping twin SUs in tune

Thanks for the post Mad Dan, the car is apparently situated a couple of hours inland from the west coast.
i notice that the link has now been broken, so for those of you interested i have copied the photos of the car here.
