i have just been offered a p6 rover estate in blue with webasto roof that is good and works/leak free.only problem is if u want it you will need to pay the fine as its in cambridge police lock up which is £3211.35 storage cost.the car has mot and v5 log book.if u want the car the cost will need to be paid at cambridge impound lot i have the paper work for this otherwise the car must be destroyed(I dont have that kind of cash to save it.and i cant remove parts :( as my truck will be escorted by police to the crusher) the due date for payment is 30.10.06 at 12.00 midday at cambridge impound lot.

Isn't there an old copper with fond memories of his old P6 patrol car who can save it? That's a lot of fine to pay. Do you think it would fetch that in the Marketplace?

Don't you find these situations funny, why don't they just sell the car and a least re-coupe some of the "storage costs", as it is the car will be crushed and everybody will be out of pocket !

I understand in the case of "rung" vehicles they can't be sold on, but not cars that are simply impounded probably for parking / tax offences.

Reason the fine is so high is its £125 a day storage fee and its been therefor 24 days and there was a towaway fee..and the car was put there because the owner had commited a criminal offence and all of there possetions had been taken by the court(dont know what they done)

I am waiting for the buyer of my 2000tc shell to come collect it!!! ive had a £70 deposit, but no contact now for about 10 days!!
I wish I could charge £125 a day for keeping it here!!!

as for the estate,,,what a waste
they might as well sell it via their auction site to recoup some funds rather than scrap a rare and fairly valuable car!!
I will have to see my, desk sgt uncle, to see what the chances are!! :p :;):

Definately needs saving.
Might be able to find a couple of hundred for it but 3k? No chance!
I dont have that to live on for the year!

I contacted Cambridge Police early this morning, but they knew nothing about this P6 estate, so they put me onto Cambs Council who also knew nothing and wanted a registration number, unfortunately I did not know it! So it looks like jay will witness a very sad loss of an P6 estate.

Mike :(

goodish news about the estate..I was contacted this morning and the car has been saved and has gone to a collector (who doesnt wish to be named but i can say its going to a good home near wales)I managed to get the fee reduced a bit and even going to transport the car to the collector for a reduced sum...problem is about cars in impound lots is once 1 rareish car goes another comes along..anyone want a zodiac estate?or a mint volvo 144?..thing is when u get into moving cars/recovering and storeing them u see a lot of cars everyday.and its very hard to turn down a good car as u get so many but a lot do find good homes but not everyone has the cash or space to keep them.I have got 40 acres of land with a lot of undercover storage but can only keep 30 cars at any one time.

rick thats storage for the cars i get from recovery jobs.so as the cars arent mine I dont have to worry about SORN until the car is scrap then its legally mine..my own personal storage which is seperate from buisness i can get 10 cars inside the shed but ive only got 3 cars 5 tractors 1 lorry and loads of junk but its seperate from buisness use otherwise someone could damage my own things.

Is it a finned Zodiac Jay? A mint 144 too. Coo....! My Brother & Missus just got the Volvo model (344?) after the 144, top range Estate too for £350. It's pretty nice. Funny how cars you never used to like become more attractive as they become older. :;):

:p
I want to sell up my house, buy a 30ft+ winnebago, and then get a bit of land,"1/2 acre ish" with a decent barn for my small fleet, and room to play,,,, park winnie up alongside and retire happy and play all day

anybody got a spare 1/2 acre with lane access ???

Trouble is these days some idiot would complain to the council about the vehicles and you would have to remove them ! Unless you had them all indoors.

Thats part of my Lottery Win plans, nice industrial unit to play in !

If the Police are impounding criminal's possesions as part of the proceeds of crime , shouldn't they use "reasonable endeavours " to get some money from the sale to compensate the victims of the crimes ?
Impounding cars then crushing them is pointless
Why not use E Bay ?
A London Borough used E Bay a while ago to sell off a Rover P5

A Zodiac Estate ? I'd love one . A Mk 3 or even a Mk 4 with a set of Wolfrace wheels ..........

they can only sell any possesions that the criminal has given up.anything that was forced/taken to give up usually is destroyed.

webmaster--my bit of land and unit is on a old farm with no houses except mine which needs restoring and nothing very close also i have got large trees nearby so noone can see or hear anything which is very good..

no to many cars at the moment..council and police are having a field day trying to clear any unwanted cars/abandonded cars at the moment,I may have to sell up and get a bigger plot if it keeps on going on as it is..last count today there was 41 cars in the yard so i am over my max limit but that included cars on the back of lorrys

And of course as they bring in the re-cycling laws and it starts costing £150 to scrap a car, there's going to be even more abandoned cars to deal with ! :(
