Rover people are the best!!!!!

I'm amazed at the rate of progress, having been in the trade here for some years I can pretty safely say our companies would still be at the chin scratching and teeth sucking stage accompanied with those magic words "I can do it, but it's gonna cost ya". I bet the insurance hasn't asked for any forms filled in in triplicate yet either, and I note that the insurance have paid out without trying to kick you in the privates repeatedly too. I'm pleasantly amazed! Good on yer and I hope everything keeps going well.

To be fair Dirk has started on this work pretty much as a favour. He has George as an employee within his company (which make laser engravers and cutters, nothing automotive) George ran his own bodyshop for many years before starting with Dirk. I believe he's responsible for the work on Dirks P5B that you saw on his website. So this isn't your regular body shop and insurance deals. This being my only accident in the 13 years I've lived in the US I can't say what they are like under normal behavior. Having said that I have been told that Hagerty's have a very good reputation here in the states. I believe they have a prescence in the UK too but don't know what they are like there.

So, latest news is:
Front now straight and aligned as it should be. (This maybe a first as the right front door never quite shut as it should and I had to shim the front right top link mount for camber angle)
Front crossmember now welded in.
New bonnet
New front bumper
New Front Valance
New Radiator
New water pump
Possibly a new gearbox as it can't be pulled out of first gear (not surprising I think the linkage took a fair amount of the force of the engine and gearbox moving back)

Amazingly both front wings survived unharmed. Seems the front bolts popped out of the slots at the front and that saved them.

God knows what this'll cost me. but I reckon I can work out a deal with services offered in returned.

So, just spoken with my insurance company. Rolly is insured, I've increased his insured value to $7,000 from its original $3,500 and they've just told me I should receive my cheque for his payout sometime late next week. I have no interests with this or any other company but if you're in the States I would heartily recommend Hagerty as a classic car insurance company. I believe they are in the UK too but don't know if they are as good there.

So, tomorrow I should see him and I'll post pictures once I get back from the event and I have access to a real computer and not just a smart phone.

Spoke with Dirk yesterday. The chassis shop just left The car at the back of their shop for a month so we are finding another place to check front end alignment. The body is P6 shaped again. In fact the passenger door closes better now than before the accident. Still working on having it back in NJ soon but want to have all things correctly aligned beforehand for obvious reasons. I'll upload some after pics later on when I'm on a real computer. (tapping this out on the phone right now).

Work has picked up a lot recently hence my quietness.
