Time to replace weak looking heater hoses arrived and on removal the metal pipe was found to be a bit rusty... probably servicable, could even have built up ends once derusted with solder or maybe JB weld type expoy stuff.
But I found a bit of stainless steel conduit the exact diameter for the good fit on the hoses - it was easy enough to bend to shape with a decent blow torch, and I made up a couple of little clips to hold it on. They were mild steel so will have to be painted before I show anyone one a picture!
The pipe should outlast the car - the thin mild steel lasted 32 years - thick stainless stuff should last a whole lot longer!
