Selector Lever

My 4 speed 2000 mk2 gearbox has continued to cause problems due to a very clunky gearchange over the last couple of years.
The gearbox is now on the bench.
A full overhaul is beyond my capabilities.but I have adjusted the selectors as shown in the manual, and changed the gear change shaft bushes p/n 591353. The splined selector lever p/n 594256 has a well worn finger ( the part which fits into the 3 selector shafts).
Is the selector lever repairable,?
Moving the 3 selector shafts in and out has after 50 years taken its toll on the splined gear selector lever, what would be the diameter of a new finger?
George

The selector “finger” is available, if it’s the type just held on with a roll pin. I’m not sure about the earlier style with a bolt, but a Mk2 car shouldn;t have that style.

Thanks Vern
My selector finger is the latest type held with a pin.
I was hoping to rebuild my existing worn finger if possible, but if replacement one's are available I'll probably go for that.
A new finger should obviously be a great improvement, but it would not compensate for any wear sustained by the gear selector shafts

You can build up the selector striker with braze and then file to shape. I've never seen significant wear on the selector shafts.

Having experienced something like this and later found another issue, I suggest you check the nut holding the driving flange for tightness - if loose it allows gears inside to move and make selection dificult.

The main symptom of a loose flange nut is an erratic speedo that lags badly under acceleration.

For future reference.
