Selector rod bushings.

Hi! I need to change out my selector rod bushings on my P6 TC 1972 on my manual gearbox It seems that is only possible if I remove the selector rod ? If so can that be done with the gearbox in the car ?

The gearbox can stay in the car, but your car should have the aluminium remote which means the back of the gearbox has to be dropped down to remove it. Then the rod can be removed to fit the bushes into the remote.

I found I had to loosen the the engine mount centre bolts to allow enough movement down at the gearbox.

Just watch the fan against the radiator too when dropping the gearbox off its rear mount. Mines a viscous fan -so in my experience with that type.
